With sadness we announce the passing of Pedro Steck, peacefully the morning of April 21, 2024, surrounded by the comfort of his family. Pedro was the devoted husband of the late Mae (née Solomon) and father of Christal (Marc Leahy), Pedro (Ricki Horowitz), Pamela (Daniel Paquette), and Perola. He is missed by his grandchildren Brigitte, Dominic, Raymond, Paschale, Matthew, Isabelle, and Alaya. Born in Louveira, Brazil, the son of the late Pedro and Maria Ester Steck (née Martini), Pedro is predeceased by his siblings Hilda (late Santo Piccolo), Jorge (late Julia Maria), Hélio (Noemia), Luisa (late Duva Brunelli), Francisco (Sirlei), and Walter José. He is survived by his sisters Esmeralda (late Arnaldo Green) and Maria Ester (Wilson De Marchi). He is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in Canada and Brazil.
Pedro was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish in Sudbury, where he served as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist for many years. Over the course of his career, Pedro worked as a miner with Inco and as a construction labourer. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He also had a great passion for cooking and always made sure everyone was well fed.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at Holy Redeemer Parish, 1887 Bancroft Drive, Sudbury, on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the Church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Health Sciences North, Sudbury Hospital or to Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
