21-year-old Barrie pedestrian dies in hospital

A 21-year-old Barrie man who was struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning has died in a Toronto hospital, say Barrie Police.

The collision took place on the 20th Side Road, just south of Big Bay Point Road. Police were called to the scene around 12:52 a.m.

Christopher Conyers, 21, has succumbed to his injuries in a Toronto hospital, say police.

Conyers was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with serious life-threatening injuries and was transferred to Toronto in serious condition. 

The 72-year-old driver of the vehicle was not physically injured in the incident.

Police say investigators at this time do not consider alcohol to be a factor. No charges have been laid.

The Barrie Police Traffic Unit continues its investigation.
