According to media reports, Canadian actor Alan Thicke has passed away at the age of 69.

According to media reports, Canadian actor Alan Thicke has passed away at the age of 69.

Thicke is a native of Kirkland Lake, Ont. and went to high school in Elliot Lake. 

Early reports are that Thicke suffered a heart attack while playing hockey with his son. He was transported to Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center around noon today, where he was pronounced dead.

Thicke's career in television and film spanned nearly five decades, beginning in 1969. He is best known for playing Jason Seaver, the father on Growing Pains between 1985 and 1992.

He also hosted game shows, talk shows, and wrote several famous TV show theme songs for Diff'rent Strokes, Wheel of Fortune, and Growing Pains.

He recently appeared in the Netflix reboot of Full House, Fuller House.
