Charges laid in Thunder Bay child abduction case

Charges relate to Amber Alert issued Monday

THUNDER BAY—Ontario Provincial Police have laid three criminal charges against a Thunder Bay woman allegedly involved in the abduction of a child.

After a province-wide Amber Alert was issued on Monday, the child was located in the city in good health.

On Tuesday afternoon, OPP released details of charges laid against 47-year-old Lynda McCallum.

They include:

  • abduction in contravention of a court order
  • break and enter
  • assault

The accused woman was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in early June.

Police said no further information about the case would be released, as the result of a court-ordered publication ban.
