Compliments brand chicken nuggets being recalled

There are 59 cases of illness linked to this recall.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) issued a recall February 27 for 1.5 kg boxes of Compliments brand chicken nuggets.

On January 25, the CFIA issued an recall of 1.6 kg boxes of Crisp & Delicious chicken nuggets, produced by Sofina Foods Inc.

The agency said it's because of possible salmonella contamination.

Affected Compliments brand products had a best before date of July 18, 2019 and were sold in every province and territory except for Quebec.

The CFIA said the recall was triggered by an investigation into a food-borne illness outbreak, and could lead to the recall of other products.

There are 59 cases of illness linked to this outbreak in ten provinces.

A food safety investigation is currently being conducted by the CFIA , which may lead to the recall of other products.

Since July 2017, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued food recall warnings for twelve products linked to frozen raw breaded chicken products due to Salmonella.

There have been 90 people hospitalized and three have died, as part of this large outbreak.

All recalled products should be thrown out, or returned to the store where they were purchased.

Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.

Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.

Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.
