A Gatineau police officer has shot and killed a dog.
Over the noon hour Tuesday, police were called to Marcelle-Ferron Street, where residents reported the door of a home had been left open and a dog was roaming loose in the street.
When a police officer arrived and tried to check on the home, the dog got aggressive and started advancing on the officer.
The police officer fired his gun, killing the dog.
No one else was hurt and police were able to locate the dog's owner.
An administrative investigation is under way, which is a normal procedure when an officer fires his or her service weapon.
