Coroner announces inquest into Hoyle Pond Mine death

Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the death of David Yuskow.

Mr. Yuskow, 57, died on March 10, 2011, from injuries received during the course of his employment at Hoyle Pond Mine near Timmins.

An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act. 

The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Yuskow's death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths. 

The inquest is expected to last three days and to hear from approximately seven witnesses.

The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Superior Court of Justice, 48 Spruce Street North, Timmins. Dr. David Cameron will preside as inquest coroner and Dale Cox will be counsel to the coroner.
