"Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford has cancelled all events in Sault Ste. Marie due to the recent events in Toronto," says a communique from Ford's team. "His thoughts are with the victims and all those affected."

Ford was going to be in the Sault Tuesday as part of his 'Rally for a better Ontario' campaign with stops planned for the Machine Shop, Tenaris Algoma Tubes and the Water Tower Inn.

As reported by SooToday, on Monday, a Ryder cube van jumped a curb in the area of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue area, north of Toronto, killing nine people and injuring 16 more.

The driver of the van has been arrested and is in custody, say police.
