Company spokeswoman says they're not sure if they'll use the entire space, adding there's no timetable to set an opening date.

THUNDER BAY – Marshall’s will be moving into the former Sears location at Intercity Shopping Centre.

A spokesperson for TJX Companies on Thursday confirmed where the store will set up shop, but said there is no timetable in place publicly regarding its opening date.

“Yes, we can confirm the Marshall’s is moving into the old Sears space,” spokeswoman Sasha Rawana said in an email response to Thunder Bay Television’s inquiry.

“No confirmation on date or if it will be the whole location.”

The company last year announced Marshall’s would be entering the Thunder Bay market when it revealed it was constructing a super store location at the Thunder Centre to house a pair of its other retail outlets, HomeSense and Winners. It’s scheduled to open on March 20.

HomeSense is currently located at Intercity Shopping Centre, while Winners is located in the same development as Wal-Mart on Memorial Avenue.

TB Newswatch learned last year that Giant Tiger was considering filling the latter space, the company announcing it was seeking management for a Thunder Bay location.

Sears fighting bankruptcy, closed all of its Canadian locations, including earlier this year its Thunder Bay store.
