On Friday April 22, Powassan and District Union Public Library is hosting their first Butter Tart Contest.

Anyone is welcome to enter a dozen butter tarts (minimum) by 12 noon on Friday.

At 4 p.m., the public judging will occur. Locals Doug Oshell, Danny Piper (owner Castle Building Centre in Powassan), and Tom Morrow (owner Powassan Home Hardware) graciously accepted the offer to be designated judges for the competition. ("it's community service work"!)

Anyone can enter.  First prize is $50.

All butter tarts become the property of the Library, and will be used for a fundraiser the next day- at the Maple Syrup Festival.

If you need more information, contact Kathie Hogan, Powassan and District Union Public Library, 705-724-3618.
