New forest fire discovered near Chapleau

One new forest fire has been discovered in the region as of Thursday afternoon.

Chapleau 4, which is currently 1 km east of Whipper Lake north of the Sault, is not yet under control at 0.4 of a hectare.

The fire is among seven active fires in the northeast region.

Among the other six fires in the region four are currently under control, one is being observed, and one is being held.

The fire hazard in the region is low to moderate in areas south of Greater Sudbury and moderate to high in areas north.
