MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The National Weather Service out of Marquette, Mich. on Thursday tweeted a picture of the Great Lakes at night, a stunning shot from space taken by NASA/NOAA's Suomi national polar orbiting satellite.

The white areas seen on the picture are lights from cities and towns surrounding the lakes, including Thunder Bay in the top left quadrant of the photo.
