The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is reporting that no new fires were discovered in the northeast region today.
There are, however, 17 active fires burning across the region. Of these, two are listed as under control and 15 are being observed, including Sudbury 63, which is located north of French River, and is one hectare in size.
While the fire hazard remains low to moderate for most of the region due to recent rainfall, the hazard is high for some pockets, including Kapuskasing, Chapleau, Thessalon and surrounding areas.
