Summer is meant to be a fun time for kids.

But without services provided by Big Brothers Big Sisters, some youth in our community may not have the opportunity to engage in mentorship programs that are crucial for youth development.

With this in mind, Sudbury.com embarked on a campaign to raise much-needed funds for our local Big Brothers Big Sisters branch with an online fundraising drive - and we asked you, our loyal readers, to help us.

The online fundraiser was simple. Sudbury.com pledged to match community donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters made through our online pop-up store.

But that’s not all.

We were able to leverage the power of our community to make the donations even bigger by asking our local business partners to match our donation.

Cooperative Funeral Home, Cintas Sudbury, Equipment World Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Plumbing, House of Broadloom, Lougheed Foundation, Mosquito Hero, Ranger's Cremation and Burial Services, Rastall Nut & Bolt Co. Ltd., Sudbury Credit Union, Sudbury E-Bikes, The Kouzzina, The Shop Industrial Inc. and Urban Windows and Doors all answered the call.

With their support, and yours, every dollar donated through our pop-up store was matched with all proceeds going to our local Big Brothers Big Sisters.

In Sudbury, the generosity of our readers and advertisers translated into a donation of $6,025 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Thank you for helping us to strengthen our community and make this the best summer ever for local youth here in Sudbury.
