Echocardiography (Ultrasound) Technologist

Position Overview

The Echocardiography (Ultrasound) Technologist performs Echocardiograms. Some duties may include: performing M-mode, 2-D, Doppler and colour flow echocardiograms in accordance with Group Health Centre’s standard procedures. The Echocardiography Technologist may also perform routine maintenance of equipment, prepare Echocardiography Case Studies to share with the team and maintaining up to date departmental files and records.


Required Qualifications
Education

  • Diploma in Cardiac Sonography from an accredited College
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer with current and valid registration with the Canadian Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO)


Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate may possess:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience
     

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • The ability to make frequent and independent decisions when performing technological procedures and assessing diagnostic results
  • Working knowledge of echocardiology procedures, cardiac anatomy and physiology with a thorough understanding of cardiac abnormalities and disease processes
  • Demonstrated experience recording patient history and documenting impressions of examinations to the Radiologist
  • Ability to administer basic patient care as required
  • A good understanding of proper use and care of equipment
  • Ability to provide an excellent patient experience evidenced by good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated care and safety of patients prior to, during, and following examination
  • Excellent team member skills able to collaborate with other members of the health care team
  • A solid track record of maintaining privacy and confidentiality in the workplace
  • Demonstrated effort in living the values of GHC


Rate of Pay:

$32.55 – $40.62 (commensurate with experience)
