I Was Just Wondering: What’s your best medicine?

Finn the Griffon’s mom says he’s the best medicine, so that got him thinking: do other people have their own best medicine?

Have you ever been referred to as “the best medicine”?

Some people refer to medicine as distasteful, yucky, unpleasant, and gross tasting. Buckley’s come to mind. Something tangible.

So this “best medicine” comment is confusing to me. I am a dog, after all, albeit a very intelligent one.

As I said, my mom often calls me her best medicine, but not just for her either; she says I am the best medicine for my dad and Mummu, too. And when Pappa was with us, he used to say it all the time, with a big grin on his face. He also used to call me a “little bugger”, but we all know that was a term of endearment.

It isn’t just me either. We’ve watched TV programs where animals and people visit with sick people and elderly people, and they all loved getting a furry visitor. So, medicine is not just pills or needles, I guess. It can be something else all together. Something that is wonderful. Something intangible.

I was just wondering what your best medicine is.

“I Was Just Wondering” is a Sunday feature on Sudbury.com from Finn, a Brussels griffon breed of dog, and his “mom”, Jaana Pirnes. Come back next week to see what Finn is up to. Got a question for Finn? You can email him at [email protected].
