As the largest public school board in Northern Ontario, Rainbow District School Board provides quality education in English and French Immersion from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Rainbow District School Board operates 32 elementary school buildings and 9 secondary school buildings in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island.
The Board also offers other programs – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program, Cecil Facer Secondary School, N’Swakamok Native Alternative School, Children’s Treatment Centre, O’Connor Park, Applied Behaviour Analysis program, Restart, Simulated Healthy Independent Living Opportunities (SHILO) program, Attendance Centre, Mishko-Ode-Wendam, Northern Support Initiative, Frank Flowers School, and Barrydowne College operating at Cambrian College.

• Four specialized programs are offered with transportation provided to students throughout Greater Sudbury – the Arts Education Program at Sudbury Secondary School, the Innovative Integrated Technology (InIT) Program at Lively District Secondary School, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at Lo-Ellen Park Secondary School and the Science Technology Education Program (STEP) at Lockerby Composite School.
• Students engage in experiential learning through Co-operative Education, Dual Credits, Specialist High Skills Majors and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, gaining hands-on skills while exploring careers.
• The Board is committed to having 100% of its schools certified as EcoSchools by 2022, with each school reducing its carbon footprint and increasing sustainable practices.
• Proud leaders in green technology, the Board opened new energy efficient schools in 2007, 2009 and 2014. A new Kindergarten to Grade 6 French Immersion school will open in New Sudbury in September 2022.
