“Patrons can now purchase tickets directly from the STC!” said YES Theatre artistic director Alessandro Constantini, in a press release.
“After a record breaking six-week run last summer and over 10,000 tickets sold for Mamma Mia and James and the Giant Peach, we are so excited to be bringing these two passion filled musicals to the stage!
“Each will feature a company of over 30 actors and a live 11-piece band! We look forward to continuing our tradition of epic, professional musical theatre each summer here in Sudbury!”
One of the two productions being staged by YES Theatre this summer is “A Chorus Line,” directed by Jeannette Lambermont Morey.
A Chorus Line is a stunning concept musical capturing the spirit and tension of a Broadway chorus audition, said a press release.
Exploring the inner lives and poignant ambitions of professional Broadway artists, the show features one powerhouse number after another. Memorable musical numbers include What I Did for Love, One, I Can Do That, At the Ballet, The Music and the Mirror and I Hope I Get It. A brilliantly complex fusion of song, dance and compellingly authentic drama, A Chorus Line was instantly recognized as a classic.
The other production being staged by YES Theatre this summer, Disney's “Newsies,” is directed by Steven Gallagher.
Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this new Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city.
After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys’ expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. With help from the beautiful female reporter Katherine Plumber, all of New York City soon recognizes the power of “the little man.”
Tickets cost $40 for adults, $35 for seniors and $30 for students/youth (plus tax and services).
