The first big-screen pairing of two of the most iconic superheroes, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – from director Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent – is now playing at Science North’s newly renovated IMAX Theatre.

Snyder has captured several sequences of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice with IMAX’s extremely high-resolution cameras to deliver IMAX audiences greater scope and breathtaking image quality.

“Only in IMAX theatres will select sequences of the film expand vertically to fill the entire screen,” said Renée Lepera, Senior Manager, Visitor Sales and Service, in a press release.

“As the only IMAX theatre in Northern Ontario, we are excited to offer our community the chance to experience Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice the way it was meant to be seen.”

At the Science North IMAX Theatre, scenes shot with IMAX cameras will expand up to a 1.43:1 aspect ratio – delivering audiences 40 per cent more of the image than standard theatres.

The IMAX release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.

The crystal-clear images, coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a special environment that immerses the audience.

The film also stars Oscar nominees Amy Adams (American Hustle) as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) as Lex Luthor, Diane Lane (Unfaithful) as Martha Kent, and Laurence Fishburne (What’s Love Got to Do with It) as Perry White; Oscar winners Jeremy Irons (Reversal of Fortune) as Alfred, and Holly Hunter (The Piano) as Senator Finch; and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.

Snyder directed from a screenplay written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer, based on characters from DC Comics, including Batman, created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, and Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film is produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder, with Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and David S. Goyer serving as executive producers.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality.

Science North’s IMAX Theatre is located at 100 Ramsey Lake Road in Sudbury, Ontario. For information on tickets and showtimes, visit sciencenorth.ca/imax.
