Double bill show at Motley Kitchen April 20

The Motley Kitchen presents a special double bill show April 20, featuring Ontario duo Brock Zeman and Blair Hogan, along with Nashville’s David Olney, as the next offering in its Dinner and a Show series.

Still not yet 30, Ottawa valley singer-songwriter Brock Zeman has released 11 albums, played most major music festivals in Canada and performed on stage with some of the top talent of the contemporary roots and Americana scenes, including Steve Earle, Blue Rodeo, Lynn Miles, Fred Eaglesmith, Corb Lund, Prairie Oyster and Blackie & the Rodeo Kings. Zeman has built a reputation as a writer of great depth, passion, and outstanding lyrical creativity. 

Zeman has a rough, rockin’ side as well, perfectly accented by his ever present collaborator, guitarist Blair Hogan. When he’s not on the road with Zeman, Hogan does session work in studios, and plays rock and roll with Ottawa favourites, Silver Creek.
 
The other half of this double bill concert features an artist who is a generation older than Zeman, but nevertheless a kindred spirit. Nashville’s David Olney is also a masterful wordsmith, acclaimed singer-songwriter and globe-trotting performer. He has released more than 20 albums over four decades, including six live recordings. His music has been prominently featured in ABC-TV’s Nashville and his stellar songs have been recorded by Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Del McCoury, among many others. 

The new Don’t Try To Fight It album was released worldwide on March 31. The collection features 10 new songs and was produced by none other than Zeman. It was recorded at the Big Muddy Studios in Carleton Place with all Canadian players, including folks like JUNO award-winning Steve Dawson.
 
Dinner and entertainment combined is $50, including HST. Show-only seats are $20 each. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the buffet dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the show approximately from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Reserve ASAP to assure good seats and dinner by calling 705-222-6685.
