Reading Town Sudbury/Ville Lecture 2016 will host the World Book Parade in the downtown core of Sudbury May 4.

Starting at the Greater Sudbury Public Library (74 Mackenzie St.) at 3 p.m. and ending at the grand opening of Le Salon du Livre du Grand Sudbury (Radisson Hotel, 85 Ste. Anne Rd.), the parade will take in local businesses, organizations, schools and clubs with Sudburians of all ages dressed as their favourite characters from books.

The World Book Parade event combines the fun of reading with the playfulness of readers and their books.

Among many choices participants can take scissors to paper and be part of Robert Munsch’s Paper Bag Princess crew, don their favourite vintage hockey attire for Roch Carrier’s The Hockey Sweater crew, or go wild with their own dress-up fun.

Local businesses, writers, poets, and anyone else in the community are encouraged to join the parade. The first 100 people to sign up will each receive a surprise prize.

Event details, costume ideas, crew and musician registrations can found at readingtownsudbury.ca.Presented by the National Reading Campaign, Reading Town Sudbury/Ville Lecture 2016 runs April 30 to May 8.
