A celebration of the life of award-winning local Francophone author Michel Dallaire has been planned for next week. The event will take place from 4-8 p.m. May 19 at Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario.

Dallaire, who was 60, passed away suddenly April 25. 

He published a total of 18 books in his lifetime. In 2015, he won a couple of awards for his novel, "In Violoncelle pour lune d’automne."

Dallaire was presented with a French-language Trillium Award, as well as the Prix Christine Dumitriu-van-Saanen. Dallaire was nominated for the Trillium Award three times previously.
