The Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre kicks off the start of its 25th season this Saturday (May 19) with the return of the second annual Big Truck Meet Up Event.
The event, which runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., gives visitors of all ages the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of big trucks and heavy equipment.
"Last year, we really wanted to develop a new event that was extremely interactive and engaging for our visitors,” said museum operations manager Cody Cacciotti, in a press release.
“We were overwhelmed by the initial response and the level of community participation that we have decided to make the event a regular part of our programming strategy.”
This year, more than 30 pieces of equipment have been confirmed along with a special guest from the Discovery Channel's hit TV series Highway Thru Hell.
"We are incredibly delighted to announce that Al Quiring, along with his wife, Nancy, will be flying in from Vancouver to spend the day with us and interact with our visitors," said Cacciotti.
"With the museum celebrating its 25th season and the town of Capreol's centennial year underway, we really wanted to do something special and having Mr. Quiring attend the event is a perfect fit."
Tonka reps will also be on site and younger visitors can try their hand at the Spin and Win Wheel to walk away with some free Tonka toys and swag.
The event is free of charge.
Beginning Saturday, the museum will be open seven days a week between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
