Video: Sudbury’s Fortunate Losers do a ‘Big League’ cover for Humboldt

‘We were moved by the terrible tragedy’

Few songs in the Canadian lexicon seem to sum up this country’s relationship to hockey as Tom Cochrane’s Big League, which is why, in the wake of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy, so many have played tribute to the team with a rendition of Cochrane’s 1988 hit.

This week, Sudbury rock band Fortunate Losers came together to perform their own tribute to the band. Filmed in a local barn by the crew from Icedrum Media, the song is a faithful, yet unique, version of the tune, changing one line in the last chorus from “my boy’s going to play in the Big League” to “our boys going to play in the Big League.”

“We were moved by this terrible tragedy,” the band said in the YouTube description on the video.
