If you live in or near Azilda, or plan to be there this evening, you can take part in a number of family friendly Halloween events.

Starting at 5:30 p.m. the Edgar Alan Leclair Centre – commonly called the Azilda Arena – will host a Safe Kids Halloween event that will include a child friendly haunted house, along with trick-or-treat opportunities away from the cool October weather.

The library next to the arena will also host a pumpkin parade, in which children will compete to carve the best jack-o'-lantern.

The event starts at 4:30 p.m. and $75, $50 and $25 gift certificates for Toys R Us for the top three finalists.

The Pumpkin Patrol, sponsored by Chartrand's Your Independent Grocer in Chelmsford and the Azilda Community Action Network, and featuring members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service, Greater Sudbury Fire Service, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and citizen volunteers will also be out in full force to ensure trick or treaters have a safe and fun experience.
