For 25 years now, the WISE Science, Engineering, Technology and Trades Olympics has encouraged young girls from the Greater Sudbury region to pursue careers in these fields.

This year’s event is set to take place Sunday, April 28 at Collège Boréal. It is tailored for those who identify as girls or non-binary in grades 4-7.

Participants will work in small teams of approximately five to six members, engaging in four hands-on experiments from various disciplines in science, engineering, trades, and technology. Each team will be scored based on teamwork, participation, planning, documentation, ingenuity, and creativity.

The goal is to introduce S.E.T.T. (science, engineering, technology and trades) subjects in an engaging, positive manner.

At the end of the day, all participants will receive a certificate of participation, and medals will be awarded to members of the winning teams.

This event is part of W.I.S.E. Sudbury’s ongoing efforts to promote and support those who identify as females and nonbinary individuals, and other underrepresented groups, in considering and pursuing careers in S.E.T.T. fields.

Volunteers include science and engineering professionals and students from the Sudbury region.
