I'd like to respond to Cathy Hopper's letter
against gay marriages.
I'm sorry that I didn't attend the rally
outside of MP Diane Marleau's office to add my voice to the six
gay activists. Had the rally been at another time, I
would have attended with my wife and
children.
We too support traditional marriage. It has
been good for our family. We don't understand how extending the
same rights we enjoy to other committed and loving couples does
anything to detract from our relationship or threaten our
family.
We strive to raise our children in an
atmosphere of love and tolerance and believe that any other
couple (gay or straight) who shares these values can only
strengthen our community.
Hopper asserts that supporters of traditional
marriage do not advocate hate, yet equates same-sex marriage
with pedophilia.
I assure her the day there are rallies in the
street in support of men marrying children, I will be there to
protest. For now I will continue to express my support for the
right of same sex couples enjoy all of the benefits of
marriage
