An angry citizen - Heather Phillips

I write this letter because the citizens of Sudbury have been deceived by the mayor and the councillors during the last election.

I write this letter because the citizens of Sudbury have been deceived by the mayor and the councillors during the last election. I am one of the many people who are thoroughly disgusted at the disgrace they have  allowed this city to become.

It appears that Sudbury's mayor and council were coached in the same manner as our men's Olympic hockey team. The "everyone for themselves, forget the team attitude" has ruined our city, although it has clearly made us aware of the error we made in the last election.  I believe the mayor is in way over his head and Sudbury is drowning because he is pulling us down with him.

If the city is not paying a consultant from out of town to make decisions, then I assume the mayor is following the direction of the "Three Musketeers": Mark Mieto, Councillor Janet Gasparini and (adviser to the  mayor) Paul Demers. They believe they know what should be done but have proven to be no better at making the right decisions than the mayor and council.

The way I see it if we need a consultant to make the decisions for Sudbury,  why don't we just hire one as mayor and save the taxpayers the consultant fees.

Our elected councillors have let us down and the only one that has any of my respect is Andre Rivest because he had the backbone to stand up for what he saw as a bad decision.

It's very clear that better supervision of the taxpayers' dollar is needed and with another municipal election fast approaching, something has to be done. This cannot continue. As concerned citizens, we have to clean up this mess, elect a competent mayor, replace all councillors and get rid of the "Three Musketeers." We need a mayor who has life and business experience: someone who cares about Sudbury and its people and someone who will not take credit for doing something that should have been done in the first place.
