I read the Upfront story on Page 3 last in
the Wednesday, March 5 headlined Highways safer than ever.
Certainly you are joking.
The roads are the worst I have ever seen, at
least in the province of Ontario, since the winter of 1999-2000
when the Harris government laid off MTO employees and replaced
them with contractors.
In my whole life I have seen so many lives
lost on our highways, mostly due to road conditions.
I can't blame the outside contractors. They
are given the same amount of money whether they work on roads
or stay home. (This info I got from a very good source.)
Previous to the Harris government, the only
time I ever heard of a highway closure around Sudbury was just
after I moved here in the early 1970s.
Wake up everyone, our roads are anything but
safe.
Bring back the good old days.
