This is in reference to the front page photo
in the Friday, April 2 edition of an Ark Pet Shop employee
holding young bunnies. Every year, parents give
bunnies as Easter gifts to the children
without realizing the responsibility that is needed to care for
them.
Rabbits have an average life span of eight to
10 years. They need to exercise, outside of their cage, for a
few hours a day minimum. Most bunnies don't like to be held and
prefer to remain on the floor and are at risk of injuries to
their spine, legs and ears if dropped.
Are the kids prepared to understand that?
Many people will soon realize the level of responsibility
rabbits require and will then abandon or get rid of them.
Rabbits are the most abandoned animal, next to cats and
dogs.
