I am writing in response to the article,
City's '06 budget invests in roads, on Jan. 18. Every time I
take a car out on the city streets I promise myself to write a
letter of complaint about the roads we as taxpayers must drive
over in order to make a living.
Naturally this all looks good on paper, but
when the city gets out there to do the job, for reasons only
known to them they have to return and do it over.
For a few years it was funny and if the city
crew was seen doing a road repair job, we would laugh and say
well it doesn't matter they'll be back. I have myself seen the
crew fix a spot in the road at least four times and not get it
right. Enough is enough. We are being forced to pay higher
taxes through the city so it's about time the city did its job
correctly. Hire competent staff and if they do not have the
proper training on road repair give it to them.
Just drive down Barrydowne Rd. in the right
hand lane going towards Lasalle Blvd., or drive down Notre Dame
towards Lasalle in the right hand lane, and see for yourself
what I am talking about.
It is common to see cars swerving all over
the roads to avoid these huge potholes that were supposedly
fixed last fall. I am at a point myself where if there is any
damage done to my car I will find out how to have the city pay
for it because I am sick of it.
In plain English do the job right the first
time and you may not have to increase our taxes. It is not
funny anymore.
