Handi Transit leaves senior in the cold

I've been wanting to write about this problem that I'm having with Handi Transit. It's been happening for too many years.

I use them to go to the cancer centre, my heart doctor and church on Sunday.

Well, for the past couple of winters, they have left me waiting in the parking lot in -30 C weather.

I was lucky that Sister Izabel was still there to give me a ride home.

You can't tell me they are too busy on Sunday that they can't wait five of 10 minutes. After all, I'm paying for my ride.

On Easter Sunday — everybody knows what kind of weather we had — I was at church. I always leave right after I have my communion. I don't even wait for the end of the mass. Well, I stood in the wind and soaking rain for half an hour, and they never came.

Thank God there were still some people in the church. So, I wend and asked if someone had a phone and if they could call me a taxi. They could not believe that I had been waiting all that time in the pouring rain. They gave me a ride home, instead.

Something has to be done.

Last summer, I stood with my walker at the end of the driveway at the church and the bus went right by me. I yelled and waved my hands at the driver, but the driver didn't even look my way. They should check the drivers before they hire them.

I'm 85 years old, I'm half bind and I have to use a walker. I know some of you seniors are having problems with them, too. Please, don't be afraid to speak. I'm going to find out who owns this bus line and tell them how they are treating old people.
