A July 31 reunion of Johnsons-with family
tree ties to a William and Ellis Johnson from Yorkshire,
England-will be held at the Binbrook, Ont. fairgrounds.
Johnsons from across North America are
expected to attend the family reunion - the first to be held by
their family tree in several decades.
In 1832, William Johnson came to Canada from
Yorkshire with his second wife,
Ellis Robson, and six children from his first
family, Moses, Thomas, Elizabeth, William, Mary and
Tamar.
It is believed that three of his children
from his marriage to his first wife, Mary Ireland, William,
Susannah and Christopher, arrived in Canada before 1832.
The family settled at Sydenham, near Toronto.
In 1845, they moved to Binbrook, south of Hamilton, which is
accepted as the hub from which the family radiated all over the
continent.
Surnames related to the Johnson family
include Topham, Wilkinson, Roadhouse, Allan, Swetland, Rumball,
