Kinsmen support Cinefest - Joan Mantle

Recently the Kinsmen Club of Sudbury hosted their annual Community Sponsorship and Recipient Charities Evening.

Recently the Kinsmen Club of Sudbury hosted their annual Community Sponsorship and Recipient Charities Evening. The purpose was to thank the sponsors of the 23rd Annual Showcase Sweepstakes; distribute the proceeds of the sweepstakes to the recipient charities, and to give all involved a chance to get acquainted while enjoying the superb food and hospitality of Cambrian College's Fontaine Bleue Dining Room.

Cinéfest Sudbury is honoured to be one of the 20 organizations to receive funding from this fundraising effort, and I would like to publicly acknowledge the Kinsmen Club of Sudbury for their support, as well as their hard work on behalf of our community. For the past four years, the Kinsmen Club of Sudbury has sponsored Cinéfest's children's film series.

Although the Kinsmen/Kinette Club is a national organization, each individual club determines how the funds raised locally will be dispersed. Throughout their 67-year history, more than $8 million has been raised for local charities by the Kinsmen Club of Sudbury.

Congratulations on the resounding success of the 23rd Annual Showcase Sweepstakes. Many thanks to the sponsors, especially J. Corsi Developments and Roy's Furniture. Thank you to all the Kinsmen, especially sweepstakes co-chairs Gerry Rogerson and Jean Cousineau, as well as co-ordinator Mary Jane Drury.

I understand work has already begun on the 24th Showcase home. They're not just building a house, they're building a community.
