Now with soon the arrival of fall, it is time to look back with satisfaction on the 34th annual Sudbury Blueberry Festival du bleuet — the annual event that celebrates Sudbury’s best above-ground natural resource.

Everyone involved had great fun together with Sud-Berry and Sudbrina Bear, our popular mascots, who attended many of the events throughout Greater Sudbury.

Special thanks to Downtown Sudbury for providing event office space again this year. Also to Services Canada for student help, the City of Greater Sudbury for valued support, other contributors, and, in particular, the Sudbury Credit Union for their generous financial donation to make the festival a reality and the Minnow Lake Lions for hosting the Market pancake breakfast.

The co-operation, positive attitude and willingness of each of the event holders was greatly appreciated from the many blueberry pancake breakfasts to the media blueberry-pie-eating contest to blueberry teas at many locations and for the first blueberry bun contest held during the Blueberry Bash at the downtown market, which we hope to expand next year to include more blueberry treats.

We look forward to many more years of celebrating nature's most perfect and most delicious food for both human and bears and in recognition that Sudbury’s blueberries are indeed the very best. Please make plans to join us again next year as an event holder or participant in the 2019 Sudbury Blueberry Festival du bleuet.
