In this day and age, there is no reason why Canada Post can't offer a banking service. Most large European centres offer this service through their postal outlets.
It's an innovative approach, especially when other services are being cut. It's time to try something different. I know the retail centres offer coins from the mint. The post office can deliver to the communities more than postal services, such as special services for seniors, and coast-to-coast charging stations for electric cars.
And while we are at it, perhaps a retail outlet for lottery tickets, as well. We have had years of cuts to our services and increased prices. How about trying something new?
As a Crown Corporation, we Canadians own it. A postal bank is an affordable, profitable and local solution that can also invest in the community, not to mention, once again, the electric car docking stations that support a green economy with the use of renewable energy that has huge economic potential for Canada.
