After 13 years of Liberal scandal, mismanagement and waste, Ontario is officially home to the highest residential electricity prices in North America.
The impact of these skyrocketing rates has been well documented. We’ve all heard stories of families being forced to choose between eating and heating. We all know someone who lives paycheque to paycheque, where every month is a bigger challenge when it comes to paying their hydro bills.
It was recently revealed that between 2014 and 2015, the arrears for residential customer accounts with Greater Sudbury Hydro increased three times, and the amount owing increased 2.5 times.
More Sudbury families can’t afford their bills and their debt continues to climb.
Despite all of this evidence, Sudbury’s own MPP, Ontario Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault, refuses to acknowledge that the Liberals’ bungling of the electricity file has forced average families into energy poverty, that a crisis exists within our energy sector, and he continues to refuse to serve the needs of his constituents.
Every day that the Wynne Liberals do nothing about skyrocketing hydro bills, another family or senior joins the long list of struggling Ontario residents who can’t pay their hydro bills.
This is just further proof of how out of touch the Wynne Liberals are to the challenges everyday families face.
It’s clear, for the people of Sudbury, life is harder under the Wynne Liberals.
