Letter: Oil companies scamming motorists
In the year 2000, I sent in a letter to a local newspaper on soaring gas prices. With my writeup, there was a photo at the Beaver gas station with a lineup of cars, saying motorists took advantage of its 70.
In the year 2000, I sent in a letter to a local newspaper on soaring gas prices. With my writeup, there was a photo at the Beaver gas station with a lineup of cars, saying motorists took advantage of its 70.5 cents a litre price, while most of the region’s gas outlets had increased the price to more then 78 cents a litre.
Holy crap, Batman — today, June 3, 2014, gas prices hit 1.44.9 cents a litre. This is outright greed at its best coming from the oil companies and the Harper government.
They’re not running out of oil. Remember back in 1970, the oil companies were crying to the public that we’ll run out of oil by the year 2000. What a crock of BS that was — 1,000 per cent an outright lie.
Looking back now, I would love to buy a litre of gas for 70.5 cents a litre.
Seeing an election is coming, what party and who will have the guts to stand up to the oil companies for our interests?
I believe oil companies know full well the day is coming when we will no longer need gasoline to run our cars. So until then, they are bleeding us as much as they can at 144.9 a litre.
I feel sorry for the people running the gas stations, getting all the upset customers screaming at them over the price of gas, when its the damn oil companies setting the prices.
