Minor crimes need attention too - Chantale Martin

In the middle of August, my daughter's bike was stolen. When I called the police, I found out many bikes in the neighbourhood had been stolen over the past few weeks, but many people I know in my area knew nothing about it. I believe we should have been notified about the situation.

When I called the police, they didn't seem to care and told me to wait three to five days for someone to call us to get a description of the bike. In, two to five days the bike is long gone. I called within the first 10 minutes of it being stolen.

It's now been three weeks. Other than a call I missed, I haven't heard from the police. I did call them back and was told to sit and wait. I know bike theft isn't important to them, but they are not even trying anymore.

My 12-year-old and I are really upset about how the police deal with missing bikes. I feel something needs to be done about this issue. Bikes may not be top priority, but they should at least be important enough to get a description right away, in case the bike is spotted and can be recovered.
