Recently my son participated in the Sudbury
Regional Historica Heritage Fair at Laurentian University. I am
very proud of my son for all the effort he made to let others
know about his heritage and culture. His booth was on First
Nations People.
The awards were handed out Thursday, May 12.
I was very disappointed that not one First Nations booth was
nominated to go to the provincial fair in Hamilton.
I believe Canada's heritage begins with First
Nations People because we are the original people of this land
and we will continue to be no matter what anyone else says or
believes.
I left that night with the feeling that First
Nations People are not recognized even within our own
region.
