Ontario needs to get its share - Clarence Soule

I was very concerned to learn our provincial government pays $23 million more to the federal government than it gets back. A good example of this is the funding received for each immigrant.

A good example of this is the funding received for each immigrant. Quebec, through some special deal with the federal government, receives over
$3,000 per immigrant, whereas Ontario receives approximately $800 per immigrant. Where is the justice in that?

Another blatant discrepancy is the difference in money received for health care. The federal government gave Newfoundland $180 million extra for health care, whereas we in Ontario have to pay a health tax out of our own pocket.

Premier Dalton McGuinty's attempts to meet with the federal government to discuss these discrepancies have not been successful. Apparently our elected representatives are not interested in such a meeting.

Our MPs were elected to work for their constituents. All MPs from Ontario should be working towards getting Ontario its fair share of revenue from the
federal government.
