Open minds needed - Martin Lees

I think it is a shame some people in this community are passing off the experience of our foreign students as illegitimate. This type of attitude will only harm the community, not allow it to flourish.

I am a non-minority student who attends LU and I must admit to having observed second-hand the same experience described by Chinese students in Northern Life's recent story.

Let's admit that while the professors are world-class, LU does have some students who could be more open to the minority experience.

Should I propose that it might be the local students y who live in their own little world and are hostile to anything outside their normal realm?

As you can see, it is impossible to resolve anything through generalizations. Nonetheless, I believe we have the potential to be a thriving multi-cultural community once intolerance in all shapes and forms is prudently eliminated from our mindset.
