On Sunday, June 26, my husband and I decided
to attend the Classic Car Show at Bonaventure Mall in
Chelmsford. As we got out of our vehicle, we heard what sounded
like a small animal whimpering in distress. We looked around
and found a small puppy about three months old under the gas
pedal in a parked car.
The windows had been left open about one inch
or so and as I put my finger in the car, the heat was
unbearable. My husband stayed with the puppy and I went looking
for help talking loud enough to draw attention.
As I returned to the car, a crowd had formed
around the vehicle, and by now all you could see was the
puppy's legs under the seat.
One gentleman was able to lift his young
daughter up so she could slip her hand inside and unlock the
door. A motor home was parked nearby and the puppy's limp body
carried to it.
At first it looked like we were too late to
save it, but thanks to the people in the motor home who gave
the puppy cool baths to bring the body
temperature down, the puppy showed signs of
recovery.
A special thank-you to all who helped save
this puppy's life.
