I am experiencing ever-increasing levels of
"road rage" over the repeated annual Sudbury event of, "How can
we (the city) cause the most disruption to traffic by digging
up roads?"
I am calling on the mayor and council to hold
public input meeting(s) for the taxpayers and businesses to
review, and to offer ideas and suggestions to relieve the
traffic snarls and holdups caused by all the various highway
construction projects.
The people in charge of all the various
construction projects seem to have complete contempt towards
the driving public and the business enterprises around town. I
have lived in Sudbury for well over 30 years and I don't think
a year has gone by when The Kingsway, Paris Street and Notre
Dame Avenue haven't been dug up in the summer, and
simultaneously. There must be someone, or even a whole
department, at city hall that conspires to arrange construction
work to cause the most disruption - no doubt they are in the
$100,000 club, too. I am amazed as to why they don't get it
right the first time!
I would suggest a public forum look at future
planning and how such future work can be scheduled in such a
fashion as to minimize the impact on travel and commerce around
our city.
