Sudbury roads among worst in province. This
is certainly not a statement anyone in this region would argue
against. I am furious however, at the ridiculous claim that
Regent Street S. (from Martindale to the Four Corners) was
named not only the worst in the city but the third worst in
Ontario.
This idiotic claim is quite obviously part of
some grand scheme being perpetrated on Joe Average taxpayer
again to justify some outlandish proposal to enhance and
upgrade the area to maintain and drive up property values in
the wealthy neighbourhoods.
Was this so-called study paid for by public
purse? Who heard about this study? Why is it that we only hear
of these studies after they are completed and shown the results
somebody obviously needed?
I agree that due to congestion and heavy
traffic on this stretch, the driving is often frustrating, but
to claim the road is in such poor condition it ranks as the
worst in Sudbury is outlandish. I have to say to whoever is
behind this farce, don't assume we are all stupid in this city.
We may have to go on paying for the niceties for the
well-heeled, but it isn't because we are stupid.

Editor's note: The study was done by the provincial
Municipal Roads Coalition. People were invited to visit its
website,www.worstroads.caand to "nominate" bad roads in the province.
