Every year at least 33,000 people in Ontario
are accidentally stuck with conventional needles.
Needlestick injuries can cause potentially
fatal diseases such as HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C. Current laws
do not protect us or our children.
These injuries are largely preventable with
the use of "safety-engineered devices." They have safety
features built in.
They cost a few pennies more than
conventional needles, but saving lives and peopleÃs health is
worth a few extra cents.
Bill 179 is a private member's bill regarding
the mandatory us of "safety-engineered" needles in Ontario.
Please contact your MPP and request Bill 179 be enacted as soon
as possible.
