With regard to
last Friday's story
about the temporary workers at the city who lost their jobs,
I'm getting a lot of calls coming in from the temps and they
are mad.
Only some of them don't have Grade 12. The
qualification they are being disqualified from their jobs is
based on a bogus requirement for an OIT certificate. Previously
no city temp ever needed this $20 OIT (operator in training
certificate) paper, because we did not work in water and sewage
plants. This is what they are using to get rid of us city
temps, and replace us with regional temps.
Northern Life completely blew the article
because it did not fully report what is happening. What will it
take to make you understand that the only reason for getting
rid of us is to replace us with regional workers.
If you did the research, you would of found
out that an operator in training certificate is a basic permit
by the Ministry of Environment to allow trainees to work at a
water or sewage plant because of the Walkerton incident. They
did not tell us about this requirement because it was used to
bypass us.
I wish you would publicize the correction,
unless it was your intention to make us look like uneducated
fools fighting for a stupid cause.
