Only one year ago our mayor and council
ordered CEO Jim Rule to cut expenses. They did not care where,
but they would not accept having to raise taxes?
When he cut 52 casual workers, was it not the
same mayor who forced him to resign with a severance package of
more than $200,000?
My question is whose head will roll this time
about the recent proposals to cut services to the community,
especially in the outlying areas?
I think since this is an election year, the
present council wants to justify a municipal tax increase or
make themselves look like heroes by saying, "Look at me, I was
able to save these services for my communities," and pat
themselves on the back for a job well done.
I am just wondering how gullible they think
the people of the Sudbury are? It is time to stop this charade
and do what they have to do. If taxes have to be increased, so
be it. Stop wasting of taxpayers money as council has done in
recent years by buying the provincial building, renovating the
council chambers, fighting Union Gas, and hiring of highly paid
consultants.
Although on a fixed income, I accept a tax
increase once all these frivolous expenditures stop.
