This season's 5-Penny New Music Concert series is wrapping up with a performance by bass-baritone Michel Ducharme.

Ducharme is “regarded as one of the outstanding Canadian singers of his generation,” according to a press release from the concert series.

He has recorded works by composers like Gilles Tremblay, Bruce Mather and Claude Vivier.

When he performs in Sudbury on March 4, Ducharme will play Five Songs Based on Symbolist Poems by Nikolai Roslavets, a Russian composer, as well as Mitsu No Kisetsu, by Sudbury composer Robert Lemay.

Sudburian Allan Walsh will join Ducharme on stage to play instrumental parts on the contrabass clarinet.

Ducharme is playing at St. Peter's United Church at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at Black Cat or at the door.
