The Sudbury Craft and Arts Foundation (SCARF) is inviting
the curious and creative on the 16th annual artist studio tour
tomorrow and Sunday.
The tour is free, and galleries, shops and other
venues will be open from 10 am to 5 pm.
Tour stops are located in four main areas to make it easier
to participants to visit as many as possible over two days.
Tour maps are available at the SCARF website,
www.scarf.ca
. Passports are also available at more than 80 locations in
Greater Sudbury, and at each of the tour stops.
Participating painters include Will Morin, Jim Cook, John
Stopciati, Oryst Sawchuk, Margaret Loney, Doreen Sanders and
Sue Lampinen.
People who enjoy pottery will want to visit the
TeenTree Pah Studio at 2069 Sunnyside Rd. Work by Ernie
Checkeris and Muiriel McLeod will be featured.
Ann Suzuki, who makes beautiful hand-dyed silk and batik
clothing and accessories, is opening her home studio on
Lakewood Dr. She’s invited weaver Liz Bivens,
soapstone carver Sandy Cline, potter Maggie  Nardi and
leather goods designer Irene Plavins to show their work at her
studio.
The pavilion at Fielding Memorial Park on Fielding Rd, off
the Highway 69 southwest bypass will be turned into a gallery
for the weekend. Sophie Baker, Gwen Doyle, Debra Lynn Ireland
and Charlie Rapsky will be showing their work there with
several other artists. Laurence Steven will be promoting books
by northern writers, and singer Angie Nussey will be there to
perform some of her new material. (This might be a good place
to have a picnic lunch as well.)
Six artists will be showing their work in the log cabin at the Anderson Farm Museum in Lively.
